Kkaennip Seed Harvest

I underutilized the seeds I saved from last year’s batch of 38N Kkaennip. If memory serves, I simply crumbled a handful of seed heads into the dirt, and although I was eventually rewarded with a few tasty leaves, I should have gone much bigger with my efforts, given how much seed I’d saved. I still have lots left over, but it may no longer be very viable; according to Second Generation Seeds, Kkaennip seed germination can drop off dramatically in the second year of storage.

I’ve just collected the dried flowers of the current year’s crop, and so can run a test to compare germination rates of the older and newer harvests. That is, assuming I can be more organized and attentive to this deserving plant next year. I’ll have to wait about four months before sowing, but in the meantime maybe I can separate out the seeds from both batches and come up with a plan for a more robust Kkaennip campaign in 2023.
