Second Year for Second Generation

I didn’t have a ton of success with my Second Generation Seeds in 2022, the organization’s first year as an independent seed seller. I’m going to try harder this time around. I haven’t gone so far as to diligently pay attention to the specific instructions for each variety, because… that would be out of character? Instead of dwelling too much on personal failings, I’m just charging ahead with a seed tray full of this year’s purchases (Cha Jogi perilla, Kamo eggplant, Suyo Long cucumbers, Lady Choi peppers, roselle, Gaeguri Chamoe) plus Sagwa Chamoe from last year and Joseon Shorty cucumbers from the Kitazawa days. I also tossed in some black chestnut soybeans and, uh, some kind of brown beans, both given to me by Kristyn when I visited Namu Farm back in October.

She’d mailed some gratis Korean cosmos with my recent order, so I thought I’d put those to the test against the ones I’d saved from last year.

I’m playing all this pretty fast and loose, and the choice to start up these seeds now has little to do with when they are supposed to be started and more to do with the fact that the first of February is a memorable date. Depending on how things go with this set, I hope to switch them out with another on March 1.
